How to Join
- Eligibility to Join:
Our board voted several years ago to obtain a community charter to the Gorman Rupp Credit Union (GROhio) to anyone who works, lives, worships or goes to school in Richland County. As a result, the unanimously passed vote means no matter where you work in Richland County, where you live in Richland County, where you go to school in Richland County, or where you go to church in Richland County, you can be a member of our Credit Union.
- Your Advantage in Joining:
All credit unions are owned by the members of that credit union. Credit unions like GROhio operate on a not-for-profit basis.
- The Earnings: Our earnings pass along to shareholders through better rates and lower fees as opposed to traditional banks, where earnings go to shareholders as dividends.
- Members versus Shareholders: Credit Unions build a base of members, not shareholders. In contrast, banks build a base of customers as well as shareholders. The traditional bank model profits from their customers base keep their shareholders happy.
- How to join:
Fill out the contact form below to get started or stop in at our location at 1766 Harrington Memorial Road any Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Then, a GROhio teller personally works with you to sign up, go over your account options, and get you on the path to smart money.
- What to Bring: The Minimum Deposit to open a share account is $5.00, bring Driver’s License or state I.D. and a pay stub.
- Backed by ASI:
American Share Insurance insures GROhio. American Share Insurance (ASI) provides primary and excess share (deposit) insurance exclusively to credit unions. As a member-owned, share guaranty corporation, they rank as the nation’s largest non-federal insurer of credit union deposits.
